
Bible School
- Every Summer our parish arranges a weeklong Bible School for
children to share on Bible-themed activities, snacks and songs.
Choirs - Everyone is invited to participate in our two
parish choirs, The Saint Francis Xavier Choir (English), and also
our Hispanic Choir. In addition to the weekend Masses, the choirs
sing at other ceremonies in the church during the year.
Easter Vigil - The Easter Vigil observance of the approach
of Easter Sunday. Everyone is invited to share in the gathering as
the day draws near. Those in RCIA programs receive their
sacraments at this mass.
Ecumenical Services - Each year at Thanksgiving time, we
join with our brothers and sisters at the neighboring Presbyterian
church for an evening ceremony followed by a social hour. This
event alternates annually between our church and theirs. We also
partake in prayer services for special occasions.
Extraordinary Ministers - These parishioners enjoy the holy
privilege of assisting the priest by distributing the Sacred Body
and Blood to people attending Mass.
Graduation Mass and Brunch - Every June, high school
students of parish families are invited to Sunday Mass followed by
a reception in the Parish Center. Although our school has been
closed for many years, this event tells our young people that we
recognize their achievements and wish them well.
Lectors - These parishioners are privileged to proclaim the
word of God to the congregation at Mass on weekends and Holydays.
Lenten Services - Every Wednesday and Friday during the
season of Lent, the stations of the Cross are recited so we can
share the Passion of our Lord.
Los Posadas - Every Christmas season, the search by Joseph
and Mary to find shelter is recreated, followed by a social time
in the Parish Center with treats and singing.
RCIA - This Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is for
- Those not baptized in any faith
- Those baptized in another faith and desiring to become Catholic
- Those baptized Catholic who want to receive the Sacrament of
Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Our weekly meetings begin in
the Fall and end on Holy Saturday with sponsors in weekly
attendance. These classes are also available for the youth of
Religious Education age.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass - Every December our
parishioners gather for a special Mass celebrated in honor of Our
Lady of Guadalupe, the Patron Saint of the Americas. This moving
ceremony features beautiful music and liturgical dance, and is
attended by people throughout the downriver area as well as by our
own parishioners. This is followed by a potluck in the Parish
Center with wonderful entertainment.
Religious Education - This program helps children K-8
better understand their faith and prepare to receive the
sacraments. Classes are held one evening a week in the Parish
Center.
Youth Retreat - Each year, a retreat is arranged for our
young people. their continuing response is inspiring for them as
well as everyone else. |
